Why beef tallow?

Beef tallow is one of nature's most nutrient-dense substances — and your skin knows it. As a saturated fat, tallow's lipid profile closely mirrors that of human sebum, the skin's own natural oil. This structural similarity is what makes it exceptionally bioavailable: your skin recognizes it, absorbs it readily, and can actually utilize what it receives.

Tallow is rich in fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, and K — the same vitamins your skin relies on for cell turnover, barrier repair, and protection from oxidative stress. It also contains vitamin B12, conjugated linoleic acid (CLA), and palmitoleic acid, a rare fatty acid with known antimicrobial properties.

Unlike many plant-based oils, tallow works with your skin's biology rather than sitting on top of it — nourishing at a cellular level rather than simply coating the surface.

What ingredients do you use in your tallow products?

All of our products feature tallow as the main ingredient. We've carefully selected all additional ingredients and botanicals to address a variety of skin types and needs. Is your tallow suitable for sensitive skin?

Our tallows are well tolerated by most skin types. If you have extremely sensitive skin, we recommend starting with our Restorative Tallow & Honey Balm and patch testing. A great place to patch test is on the inside of your wrist or behind your ear. If you experience any irritation, discontinue use and consult with a dermatologist.

Why is my tallow firmer or softer than my last order?

Tallow is a saturated fat, meaning it's solid at room temperature. However, its texture responds naturally to its environment. In warmer months, it may arrive softer than expected or even liquefied in extreme heat. Simply stir gently and allow it to resolidify at room temperature, or place it briefly in the fridge if you prefer a quicker set.

In cooler months, it will be firmer; just warm a small amount between your fingertips before applying.

This is tallow behaving exactly as it should — pure, unprocessed, and in harmony with its environment.

Will the products vary from batch to batch?

Yes — and we consider this a mark of authenticity. While we follow a consistent rendering process and measure every ingredient with precision, the natural variability of grass-fed animals means no two batches are identical. Factors like season, animal age, and pasture conditions can subtly influence color, texture, and scent.

What remains constant is what matters most: a rich, stable nutrient profile and a product crafted with integrity — beautiful in its very nature.
